End of term tournament - 2BRB Drinking!!

Postby col » Mon Dec 03, 2007 12:02 am

That's right, we can now confirm that the final Thursday session of term will be a:

2-ball rollerball drinking tournament

In case you don't know the rules of rollerball, it's quite simple: it's doubles foosball, but the playing field is levelled because there are 2 balls in play, there's no pinning or snaking allowed and the balls have to be moving at all times (and distracting your opponents is allowed, which leads to some amusing goals). However, at this tournament the field is levelled even more because you get points for drinking, so Tom Burdett will be drunk before the semi-finals (and so will Nubbert after sniffing someone else's beer).

The format will be groups followed by knockouts. In the groups, you get 3 points for a win plus half a point for every pint you drink. (Maximum 3 points per team for drinking. We don't want you to die at this tournament.) In the knockouts, you get a headstart in your match for drinking.

There'll also be some festive prizes on offer: we'll be giving away prizes to the winners, best fresher team, and best teetotal team (so there is something for non-drinkers as well).

Last year this tournament was a classic and was eventually won by a fresher pair who beat some rather addled pros in the final, so make sure you're there. Just to remind you, it's in the Graduate bar at 6pm on Thursday. Don't miss it - it's gonna be a cracker.

Use this thread to look for a partner, request something you want as a prize, or just trash-talk other society members.

Happy Christmas!

Some pictures have appeared for this. I think Kristin took them and sent them to Colin who uploaded them, safe.

This one's the best.

Bump - we're having another 2BRB drinking tourney on Thursday. The rules will be largely the same, but with a few differences to how handicaps work - teams with a higher UK rank will be handicapped, allowing novices to cause upsets. Of course, there are still points on offer for drinking (aww man)...

1. Andrew Nubbert & Colin Fallon (gtfi!!11one)
2. Chris Haigh & Chris Lyall
3. Tom Hampson & Steve "Whinge" Lyall

obv good tournament.
