ReFresher's Tournament results

Postby col » Sat Jan 12, 2008 2:21 am

Top 5 (this is from memory so I hope I got everyone's name right):

1. Alex Brenig-Jones
2. Dan Merzon
3. Steve Brown
4. Toby Savage
5. Charlie Hewitt

Congrats to all of you - there were some cracking matches, not least the final. Dan, we apologise for always supporting your opponent (at least you got some prize money to make up for it).

I'm going to bed now having spent a ridiculous amount of time at or near a foosball table today >.<

I've never seen so many sweat balls as this. Insane.

Well played everyone!

Luke

EDIT: Btw, does anyone know whose camera we used at the end of the tournament? If they can email the pictures to exec@warwickfoos.co.uk it'd be much appreciated.

EDIT EDIT: Full results now here.

It was Alex's camera.

I would like to second all that was said above, and add my congratz to all those who took part, and I hope to see them all in the future!

Kudos to Dan for taking us supporting his opponent all the time like a man, and playing through it!

The online results don't show the closeness of the knockout matches:

Semi-finals:
Alex Brenig-Jones bt Steve Brown 6-7 7-6 7-6?
Dan Merzon bt Toby Savage 6-7 7-6 7-4 (was 1-4 in final game)

Final:
Alex Brenig-Jones bt Dan Merzon 7-3 4-7 7-5

Wahey! :D

Thanks for an awesome tournament guys - and especially for giving me some guidance along the way, I learnt a lot of new techniques in just one evening! (i'd never heard of / seen the snake before... )

Yep it was my camera - I'll send the photos in a moment.

My quarter and semi-finals were painfully close. And funnily enough, I lost 7-2 to Dan in the group stages...
